Performance Martial Arts

This show was held in the City West Hotel and hosted by Legends MMA Gym. We had two teenagers on this show and our first lad took the fight at two hours notice!! Robertas was up first on short notice and he brought the young lad to a 3 round decision in which it ws called a draw and Robertas hasnt been training that long so we were over the moon with him. Dennis was up next and he steamed through his opponant to win by submission in the first minute of the first round!! Here is Dennis in action,

This charity show was held in the Royal Hotel Bray and hosted by Legends MMA. It was a mixture of boxing bouts and also four K1 rules kickboxing bouts and we were glad to have all four lads from PMA on this great show. The show was in aid of Diebities and there was a lot of money raised. Our lads Joe Merry, James Gorman, Sean Dorann and Daniel Caffrey all had great fights and really looked sharp. James and Daniel got the wins while Joe had a very close draw and Sean lost. All in all we were very happy with the whole nite and we are looking forward to been invied to the next show. This tournament was held last saturday the 5th of March out in the shorelins centre in greystones. I was the only one to enter from PMA and as the numbers werent there i was asked to move up in weight class so that i did and we squared off and luckly i finished with a nice gillotine choke to take the gold medal!! Here is my final match…

So after last years success we were invited back down to The Waterford International Kickboxing Gym for there show. Once again it wa well ran by Billy and Vinny and also IKF president Pete Foley was in attendance. We had 3 lads on this show, Mark, Dennis and Sean. Sean was up first and he had a great fight which he narrowly lost and given hes only 13 he did very well. Mark was on next and he was matched with a very good lad but managed to get the win!!! Then on to Dennis who also got the win in a very close fight. Great day down there once again and we ill be at the next show too. Well done to the lads and here is Marks fight and ill stick up the others as soon as i get them back,

Rush Fight Academy’s head coach and pro MMA fighter Paul Cowzer came to take our MMA class last friday nite. Paul took time out of his hectic timetable to come and teach and help us out as he runs one of the best MMA and Boxing clubs in the country and also is still at the very top level of MMA fighting himself and also coaches myself  so we were delighted to have him over. Paul was joined by Shona Maguire who also trains at RFA and also fights herself!! Paul also is a fight promoter and hosts the countrys best MMA show called “ The Rumble in Rush” which the next one is on the 26th of February where Shona has her next fight and also we have Stephen making his amature debut. Paul and Shona put on a super class and we are eager to have them back soon.

This was by far the best seminar ive been to an it was held up in belfast. Just myself and Stephen made the trip up and we were more than happy to give our support to the  BJJ Revoloution team up north!! Some really good stuff learned in this and i witnessed my first blue belt grading and belt whipping which was nasty. Thanks to Andy Ryan and Peter Lavery for arranging and inviting us up and here is a photo of the man himself.

For this comp we had 6 of us competing, Stephen , Andrius, Mark, Shane, Alex and myself!! This was the Informed Performance Submission Grappling Tournament and it went very well. The teens were up first and as i had to ref there matches i didn get to see some of the lads but they all had plenty of matches and did very well for most of them this was there first comp so well done to all of them!! We did have a second place, Alex so well done to him!! It was then my turn and i was in the 97kilo section. There were only 3 of us in this section so my first match went to a drw and then my final match i managed to submit him which ment i took gold!!! Here is my final match……….

This was our first seminar to host last Saturday and we were glad to bring in Arthur Ruff!!  Arthur is a bjj black belt and is also part of the BJJ Revoloution team. Arthur is from brazil but now lives in america and has two gyms over there called Ruff House Jiu Jitsu!!  It was a great seminar with twenty guys turning up from here and other gyms. Arthur himself is a very down to earth guy and were looking forward to his return next year. Big thanks to him and also to Stefen and the lads from Legends MMA for making the trip out and to Mike Moloney from Team Balance Jiu Jitsu for coming along.

This was my first bjj comp to enter and i thought it was very tough. The standard was very high. I entered the scond heaviest section and i was delighted to be be placed third in my group!!  I also entered the open weigh section at the end of the day and lost that. Great expierience over all and im looking forward to the next one. Well done to the Irish Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association for hosting a huge compitition with over 100 players.

Im very hapy to announce that we are now affiliated to BJJ Revoloution under Andy Ryan. This means our BJJ classes will start next wednesday and will go twice a week!! Our classes will be in the gi and Andy himself will be over seing them and coming here every few weks too. Really excited about this so see you all on the mat!!!!!!
